Beginning February 2021, McLeod County residents are welcome to receive full grocery distributions twice a month.
Visits are limited to once a week and produce-only pick-ups remain an option during the weeks in between.
We prefer your needs determine your schedule.
Current physical address and household member information will be verbally verified at each visit and updated when needed.
"Proof" of ID and address are not required but make sure we get your information correct.
Complete client-choice options include a variety of fruits, vegetables, proteins, grains, cooking and baking items, dairy items, boxed and canned meals, fresh produce, and assorted deli and bakery items. Personal care and household items also subject to availability.
Grocery distribution history is accessible at all sites for all clients. This means whether you have been served curbside, at a Mobile Outreach location, or either Glencoe or Hutchinson Site, staff has access the same information.
Clients are encouraged to access the site which best meets their needs and schedules and may use sites interchangeably.
To further bridge the gap of food insecurity, weekly, fresh produce only distributions are offered to individuals within the MEFS service area. Availability will vary from visit to visit.
NAPS Distribution Site (Glencoe Site only). NAPS boxes are distributed Wednesdays following the 1st Tuesday of every month. CFSP Authorized program for persons age 60+ who meet income requirements. All program requirements must be met to receive a box.
McLeod Emergency Food Shelf (MEFS) is a non-profit 501c (3) agency which was organized in 1983 to assist residents of McLeod County, Minnesota in the area of hunger relief.
MEFS receives financial donations and food support donations from the individuals, organizations, civic groups, businesses, food rescue partners, and faith partners of McLeod County.
Since 1983, millions of meals have been provided by the generous support of the local community. In the first year, 109 households were served with the number stretching over the years to as many as 1,857 distinct households. In the most recent year (2019), 8,322 distributions provided enough food to prepare more than 384,000 meals for their hungry household members. More than a half million pounds of food are distributed each year!
In addition to hunger relief, MEFS focuses on providing community support service information.

All are encouraged to pick up groceries in Hutchinson, 498 HWY 7 W, or stop by one of the mobile outreach locations (schedule is on the Mobile Outreach tab).
