McLeod Emergency Food Shelf (MEFS) is an exempt organization as described by the Internal Revenue Code under Section 501(c)(3). FEIN# 41-1470696.

Donations are tax deductible as no goods or services were provided or exchanged for the stated contribution. MEFS is committed to donor privacy rights and does not sell, trade, or share donor personal information without donor consent. MEFS maintains esteemed stewardship of donations, documenting 97% of funds for food program distribution and 3% for program administration (2023).

Yearly Individual Donation Acknowledgement Statements are mailed out each January with cash & food donation totaling more than $10 and/or pounds. Individual receipts available upon request at time of donation. Please contact MEFS with address corrections. 

Donor information is collected at the time of the donation for agency use in recording donation information; to prepare and send donor acknowledgement statements at year end; and to prepare and send communication and solicitation of future donations (i.e., agency newsletters/updates). Information is collected verbally (in-person donation) or written (mailed documentation) and includes confirmation of name, address, donation type, and amount.  Donation types and amounts are considered private record unless otherwise permitted by donor.  Donor names, addresses, and/or telephone numbers are not traded, sold, or otherwise disclosed without consent of the donor.  Donor requests to remain anonymous will not be listed or mentioned in any publication of the MEFS and noted in MEFS donor database. All donor information will be kept min the strictest confidence. Donor's may contact MEFS in writing or verbally to update any inaccurate information.
